Hot dry weather is the name of the game across South Wairarapa this summer with forecast El Niño conditions likely to place pressure on water supplies, which means a backup tank of water could come in handy.
The Council has 200-litre water tanks available to the community for $128 each. These tanks can help your household prepare for dry weather. They are light (7.5kg apiece) and easy to transport, making them an ideal solution for collecting rainwater for gardening and emergency use.
Each tank measures a modest 1200mm high and 650mm wide and comes with fittings, a diverter kit and a 10-year tank warranty. They are made from food-grade, UV-resistant plastic.
If you’ve been thinking about storing water, a small investment now could make a big difference during dry months.
Pop into the Council office on Kitchener Street, Martinborough between 8.30am and 4pm on weekdays to pick up a tank. If you are travelling from out of town, it pays to call ahead to make sure the tanks are in supply (there are usually plenty in stock).
