As a parent of young children, I know how quickly toys can go from “must-have” to forgotten. Every Christmas we spend money on gifts that are loved for a few weeks before ending up at the bottom of a toy box. That’s why I’d encourage grandparents looking for a meaningful Christmas gift to consider membership of the Martinborough Toy Library.
For the cost of a $40 grandparent membership, children gain access to hundreds of high-quality toys, games, puzzles and learning resources throughout the year. Instead of receiving one or two toys at Christmas, they can enjoy a constantly changing collection that grows with their interests and development. It’s affordable, sustainable and is perfect for families that are tight on storage and space.
The Toy Library is powered by volunteers, and at this year’s AGM we extended sincere thanks to outgoing Chairperson Lauren Ramonos, Secretary Carly Hislop, and Hayley Bartholomaeus and Samantha Te MaariCumming, who have served on the committee and stepped down over the past financial year. And we were delighted to welcome Marg Hanlon, Seetha Ganesan and Ronnie Hawkins as our grandparent volunteers, alongside Kate Grenall, Meagan Parker and Theresa Ross.
If you’re looking for a Christmas gift that keeps giving all year long, the Martinborough Toy Library might be just the answer. Come and see us on Saturday mornings, 10.00AM till 12.00PM at the Plunket rooms at the Waihinga Centre.
