Aorangi Restoration Trust Annual General Meeting

Oct 2026

2025 Walking Festival team at the Pig Ridge Track sign in the Aorangi Forest Park.

The AGM will be held on Sunday the 4th of October from 4pm to 5 pm at the Ruakokoputuna Hall, at 480 Ruakokoputuna Road, 5781. There will be a free bus from Martinborough to the venue leaving the Green Jersey Depot 16 Kitchener Street at 3.30pm on the day.

We do the business of receiving the Annual Reports and electing the Trustees – but we try to keep things light and interesting. The Team will give a brief overview of their past years activities, and after the formal stuff we will have time for a chat and  a meal of delicious venison casserole supplied by Medici Caterer Nick Arnold (vegetarian options available). The Venison is supplied by our NZDA Trustee Hamish Graham. We will have hot drinks available otherwise it is BYO.

So, what’s the Trust been up to over the past year?

  • We farewelled the last of our foundation Trustees from 15 years ago Clive Paton (who remains our Patron) and Tony Didsbury – many thanks guys.
  • 18,000+ predator trap checks 7,000+ many done by our energetic volunteers – helping  the matuku/bittern and pekapeka/long tailed bat from extinction and many other rare birds
  • Continued clearing the tramping tracks in the Aorangi Forest Park
  • Continued to lobby for the Hiwinui Regional Park and Haurangi Road improvements
  • Continued to encourage the korora little blue penguin back onto the Palliser Bay coast
  • Continued native revegetation planting with Tonganui Corridors project

If you would like to come along and hear what the Trust is all about (and get a free meal) please RSVP to the email joehowells57@gmail.com or text/phone Joe on 027 597 2667.
