Martinborough Junior Football has wrapped up another season, celebrating around 90 young players at its annual prizegiving. The club thanked its players, coaches, managers, parents, caregivers, sponsors and volunteers for another year of football, friendships and plenty of Saturday morning memories.
A special mention went to U9 Hotspur and U8 City, who travelled to Featherston and Carterton for every game this season. The club hopes new goals in Martinborough next year will mean more home games and less time on the road.
The club also farewelled its Year 8 players heading to college, while recognising long-serving coaches Wilco and Toby, who have clocked up around 20 years of coaching between them.

This year’s festival fundraising raised just over $2,300, helping subsidise fees and provide new balls, shirts, gloves and equipment. Thanks went to Pain & Kershaw and Gorilla Goal for their support.
A special farewell was made to Michelle Ford, for her huge contribution to both Junior Football and the Martinborough Women’s team. Jacinda Cole was welcomed onto the committee.
The prestigious Shaw Cup, recognising outstanding commitment and contribution to Martinborough Football, was awarded to Flynn Funnell, who also received the U13 MVP award.
