Palliser Hua Nui awarded 97 points and Platinum at Decanter World Wine Awards 2026

July 2026

Martinborough, Wairarapa, New Zealand, 18 June 2026 – Palliser Estate is proud to announce that its Hua Nui Pinot Noir 2024 has been awarded 97 points and a Platinum medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) 2026, one of the world’s most respected wine competitions.

Now in its 23rd year, the DWWA is widely regarded as a global benchmark for wine quality. In 2026, nearly 17,000 wines from 57 countries were blind-tasted by 245 leading wine experts, including Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers. Platinum medals represent just over 1%, a very small proportion of entries, recognising wines of exceptional precision, balance, and sense of place.

This year’s result marks a significant moment not only for Palliser, but for the wider Martinborough and Wairarapa community. Palliser is delighted to stand alongside Craggy Range and Te Kairanga, two fellow Martinborough producers whose wines were also awarded Platinum this year, reinforcing the strength of the region on the world stage.

‘Hua Nui’, means ‘fruits of abundance’ in te reo Māori, and Palliser’s Hua Nui Vineyard has long been a special site within Martinborough. Certified organic, it’s dedicated entirely to Pinot Noir. Decanter described the 2024 Hua Nui as “a candescent purity of dark plums, berries and violets meets vibrant liquorice pastille energy and glides over the glossy structure. Open-knit with shiny acidity and a super satisfying finish; a beautiful picture with a strong frame.”
