New silverware for Martinborough Golf

By Karen Stephens July 2026

The trophy cabinet is boasting a new arrival with Martinborough ladies winning the Rew & McCracken cup hosted by Carterton Golf Club.

The team of Kris Mason, Karen Delahanty, Emily Loughnan, Kelly Taylor, Marian McKenzie and Julie Dondertman won with the best combined net scores across the region a great achievement.

Thanks to the weather there have been no lost golfing days, and the weekly competitions have continued, albeit in rather cold conditions at times. Please note if there is a frost no play is allowed until 9.30am and please check whether ride on carts are allowed if there has been substantial rain. These restrictions ensure we can keep the course playable and looking great.

We’ve been doing some planning for the rest of the year for various golf skills development opportunities for a range of golfers from juniors to new golfers as well as helping existing golfers improve. The first of these is a short series of three 2 hr workshops with Hugh Wilson especially for women wanting to improve. These are happening on three Saturdays starting on the 11th July with a fourth Saturday as a rain back up. Places are limited to 10 participants, at a cost of $40 per session. If you are interested please contact the office for the application form.

The clubhouse has seen the most activity over the last couple of weeks with the All-Whites World Cup football games being shown and the kitchen serving yummy lunches. There was a good turnout for the Super Rugby final which had the crowd up and cheering the Hurricanes to their win. The All-Blacks tests will also be shown so get in touch with the office to book for these.

Sunday Roasts have also restarted, these were extremely popular last year so make sure to book in through the office. And don’t forget the club now serves barista coffee, so on a cold winter’s morning (from 9.30am) pop in for a steaming cup and a treat from the cabinet (brownies are amazing!).
