Libby is the library reading app that lets you access a collection of over 40,000 digital books, audiobooks, and magazines anytime, anywhere.
Libby is free to download and you will never be charged for anything you borrow. All you need is a valid Wairarapa Library Service card. Once you sign in with your card, you can start browsing and borrowing straight away!
If you’re reluctant to try e-books because you think the print is difficult to read, Libby’s eye-friendly interface will change your mind. The app lets you customise any e-book’s font size, layout, and even lighting that suits you best. As you read, you can add bookmarks and create notes along the way. Libby also syncs across all your devices, so you can read between devices without any interruption.
Have any more questions about Libby, or problems installing the app? Pop into one of our WLS libraries with your device and we’d be happy to help.
New time for Wā Kōrero
Our interactive story-time sessions now start at an earlier time of 10 a.m. every Tuesday (Martinborough Library). Bring your pre-school kids along for stories, songs, and fun activities that engage young bodies and minds. Wā Kōrero is also offered at other WLS libraries:
Featherston Library Monday 10 a.m.
Carterton Library Thursday 10 a.m.
Greytown Library Friday 10 a.m.
Reading aloud
Kids aren’t the only ones who enjoy being read to! Reading Aloud sessions for adults start on Saturday 5 November at 11 a.m. at Greytown Library. Come along and listen to readings of passages, memorable moments (no spoilers!) and poems from classic and contemporary literature. Members of Greytown Little Theatre will lead the inaugural session by reading a selection of scenes from their favourite plays – rediscover the pleasure of being read to and enjoy some improvisational performance at the same time!
Reading Aloud is a monthly event, and everyone is welcome. Go to wls.org.nz/whats-on or call 06 304 9061 for more information.
