THE GORGEOUS LADIES LUNCH

Aug 2013

Visa Wellington on a Plate events don’t only happen in Wellington. Martinborough foodies like to showcase what our town can offer as well. So Poppy Hammond of Poppies Martinborough, Mary Biggs of Lavender’s Green and Helen Meehan of Olivo put their heads together and came up with the idea of a gorgeous ladies lunch based at Poppies Martinborough for this year’s food festival..
“An honorary lady (male) is being allowed to cook – Nick Arnold of Medici Catering is producing a gorgeous Moroccan tasting menu, delicate but robust enough to tempt us all” said Helen.

August is traditionally a quieter month for Martinborough restaurants but the opportunity offered by Visa Wellington on a Plate to create an event that has “star” quality is not one that can be missed. August is also an excellent time to release new wine vintages and the latest olive oil. The organisers are bringing all this together in the “Gorgeous Ladies’ Lunch”.

Visa Wellington on a Plate was developed to raise awareness and build confidence in the greater Wellington region’s food industry. Now in its fifth year, it can be described as one of the main food festivals of New Zealand bringing people into the region from around the country and Australia. “As a wine and food town, it is critical that Martinborough plays its part in this event” said Helen Meehan.

The Gorgeous Ladies Lunch is being held on Tuesday 13 August at Poppies Martinborough. For more information, please contact:
