Much appreciated

Apr 2013

The generosity of people is always very ‘heart warming’ – in the last two weeks this has come to the fore very prominently. As mentioned below the Pukemanu Fishing Club, in conjunction with the Wellington Police Rescue Team, gave the Room One children a ‘day out’ as a thoughtful gesture in memory of Shane. There were six boats with two adults on each boat. These people gave up a day’s work, a boat full of petrol and their time for our children. Hunting and Fishing donated a gift pack for each child and Marks Signs, from Carterton, presented each child with a certificate to finish the day’s events. We sincerely thank them all for their generosity and thoughtfulness.

Fishing Day On Thursday, 21st February, we went to Wellington for a special day to remember Shane White, our sadly lost classmate. The Pukemanu Fishing Club organised the whole day for us. First we were taken around the police boat Lady Elizabeth IV. We went fishing around Somes Island. We were split into groups of three or four children with two or three adults per boat. Some of us got bites or nibbles. On our boat we saw lots of jellyfish. I got a blue cod but it was just under the size limit, I did not get to keep it. At the end of the day we went for a swim and were given a bag with two hats, a pad, a pen and a possum trap. We all had a very fun day.
