A recent club trip was to Wellington’s Otari Plant Museum, starting at the inviting entrance with its gardens and water features. A walk along the tree canopy path led us down to the Troup Clearing where we began the climb to an 800 year old rimu tree—a good spot for a cuppa.
We continued to a pine plantation where we could see part of the old Karori Cemetery. Some of us continued on this track while others followed the Kohekohe Track to a meeting point on the 4WD track to Churton Park. We lunched on a clearing with a vista over Wadestown and to Somes Island, and then rejoined the Otari track system through the flax clearing and back to the Troup lawn.
The drizzle cleared to a pleasant day with a bit of cloud cover. Walkers were Ian and Rosie Montgomerie, Stan Smith, Bruce and Mary Lambert, Barry Kempton, Lynne King and Theresa Fawdray.
