Year Five
It has come somewhat to their surprise that Jasmin, David and Mike found themselves preparing this edition of the Star which marks the fifth year of production. As they say: ‘time flies when you’re having fun’.
And yes, thanks to the great support received from so many, it has been fun. Admittedly the first year was a fairly steep learning curve. In those first months Mike struggled to master a, to him, totally illogical computer (Computer 10 – Mike nil) and Jasmin burnt much Midnight Oil processing late arriving advertising copy with a looming printer’s deadline. Happily Mike’s computer is now less of a mystery and advertisers now realise that a Deadline is just that.
This is an opportune time to thank the loyal supporters who have made the production of the Star possible:
The advertisers who finance the operation – no advertising no paper, it is as simple as that. We certainly appreciate their support and urge that you support them – the businesses are the life blood of our town.
The home delivery team. Sixteen volunteers who do the rounds each month regardless of weather (or dogs) ensuring that every home gets their copy. If you spot someone delivering the Star pass on your appreciation. Also the establishments which carry copies of the Star for customers and visitors, a much appreciated service.
Those who take the time to send in copy or alert us to news. The regular input from clubs, interest groups and individuals is vital for a purely community oriented publication such as this. So to those who do – keep it up. To those who haven’t – now’s the time to start, your input will be most appreciated.
Roll on the next five years!
