Mike and Lindie Sleyer

Mike and Lindie are the design duo behind DustysandLulu, offering brand and communication design as well as uniquely individual products and general prettiness.  Their wares are already well-known in design stories around the country, with buyers enjoying the distinctive hand screen printing range, which includes prints, tea towels, pillowcases and clothing.

They are very excited to have moved to Martinborough from Wellington, getting the space and freedom to concentrate on expanding their growing design business and making life pretty.

Both have extensive backgrounds in design, with thirty years experience between them. They love bringing ideas to life, developing innovative solutions by understanding what audiences really want, and delivering it in ways that are creative and appealing and builds strong loyalty. All the while offering more bang for your buck.

The pair met when Lindie employed Mike as a designer at a Wellington agency, and it soon become clear the connection was more than work. “We now live and work together which we love because we get to create, play, share and laugh”, she says. “We’re great at collaborating because we do it at work, in dustysandlulu and in our relationship. It’s exhilarating, fun and unleashes vast creative results.”

Lindie says inspiration is never far away and they thrive on bringing ideas to life. “Our home is a colourful collection of things that inspire, from the skateboards that cover our walls with their stunning illustrations to the Foxton Fizz crate and old school milk bottles.

And the name? Mike’s love of American was the catalyst for the name Dustys while Lindie was Lindie Lu, or Lulu growing up.
