Jasmin Stevens

The high visual quality of the Martinborough Star which you have been receiving for the last five years has been entirely thanks to the skill, time and effort of Jasmin Stevens – known to most as Jazz.

The original discussion on the possibility of providing a regular community paper for Martinborough was based on producing a monthly black and white A4 size product similar to the Featherston Phoenix and Greytown Grapevine. Constrained the skill levels available.

Then ‘out of the blue’ Jasmin came on the scene offering her services – skills which could lift the project to a new, exciting, altogether higher plane. The planned smaller black and white could be replaced by a full colour tabloid.

Producing the adverts and then laying out the paper is a skilful, time consuming business – taking between twenty five and thirty hours. Added to this the short period between the deadline and printer’s time slot has the work being carried out under some pressure.

For the last five years Jasmin has given up a weekend every month to fit this work in with the already busy commitments of a young family. Being Jasmin she has not spared herself, going the proverbial extra mile to please advertisers – and satisfy her own very high standards. Frequently it has meant working well into the night.

However family and work commitments have now expanded to the stage where she has reluctantly decided that she has to pass work on.

As your fellow team members we can’t thank you enough for all you have done. You have certainly been the star in The Star.

On behalf of the whole District it’s a very big THANK YOU JAZZ

David, Mike
