Playcentre open day

July 7, 2012 July 2012 No Comments

Martinborough Playcentre extends a warm welcome to all to its free Open Day on Tuesday 31st July to showcase its facilities for babies and preschoolers. The Open Day will provide an opportunity for families new to the area or families who want to find out more about Playcentre to explore our facilities and see what Playcentre can offer their children.

Playcentre sessions run from 9am -12pm. The children have a shared morning tea at 10am. Pop in to see us anytime or for just an hour during the Open Day to see what it’s all about.

The Playcentre has recently upgraded the play area for under one year olds and acquired new equipment and toys. The Playcentre has a safe outdoor playground including sand pit, swings and a play fort with slide and tunnel, and many facilities for indoor play including a carpentry bench, dress-up box, musical instruments, and painting and collage tables. Children are encouraged to explore and experiment in their play while parents oversee and extend the areas of their children’s interest and focus.

Playcentre is a community run early childhood education centre with caregivers as first teachers and adheres to Te Whariki, the NZ early childhood curriculum.

Playcentre is particularly popular over the wet winter months when children can burn off excess energy is a warm, safe environment. A perennial favourite in winter is messy play and painting which are not often indulged at home!

Recent events at Playcentre include a book signing and presentation by Di Batchelor, Author of “Rhinehold the Mouse”, a picture book for children. Di attended our Tuesday session and read her new book about the adventures of a house mouse. Di’s book recently won an award for illustration in the LIANZA Book Awards.
Quote from Playcentre Parent: “My four and a half and two year old love coming to playcentre and playing with all the amazing toys and facilities that we don’t have at home. It’s great to see them form friendships with other children and adults which will last through kindy and school.”

Martinborough Playcentre Open Day, 38 Venice St, Tuesday 31st July 9am – 12pm. For more information regarding the Open Day please ring Martinborough Playcentre 3069068 between 9am and 12pm Monday to Thursday.
