LOCAL CHEFS SUPPORT FOOD FIESTA
A fine community cause like Hospice Wairarapa brings Martinborough people together to help raise funds. After all, no-one knows when someone important to us might need hospice care and we want it immediately and nearby.
The culinary talents of leading Martinborough and south Wairarapa chefs will create taste sensations as they present seven food stations at Hospice Wairarapa’s big Wine Auction and Food Fiesta.
The Fiesta is to be held at Brackenridge, Martinborough, on Saturday 29 October. Information and tickets are available from wineauction@hospicewairarapa.co.nz .
Each chef has selected a local delicacy for his or her station, matched with a Martinborough wine.
Some ingredients have been hunted in the hills and others found on farms. All have been donated by generous ‘hunters and gatherers’ so that local wild duck, venison, lamb and suckling pig are all on the menu.
“The idea is that our guests have continuous grazing rights on small plates of deliciousness, accompanied by some of the district’s finest wines,” said Auction Committee member Dawn McCallum.
“Martinborough residents can contribute organising a group of their friends to come along to the auction, and return coach transport is available from Hunter Shuttles at only $10pp.
“Then they can compete for our amazing range of prizes – from a $50 mystery balloon to a diamond ring, mouth-watering big name wines and the ultimate prize – a personal wine trip to Portugal. We expect a lot of spirited and good-humoured competition on the night.
“Most importantly, we are aiming to raise a substantial sum for the Hospice. But there’s no reason we can’t have fun while fund-raising,” she smiled. ? ? ?
