Library news
E-books are now on-line at the library. You can download from our webside wls.org.nz simply by clicking on the ‘Download e-books/audiobooks’ icon, entering your library card number and then selecting what you would like to load on to your laptop, e-reader, ipad etc.
The only non-compatible reader at the moment is Kindle but that is a problem we hope will be solved at some stage this year. E-books are great for those with sight difficulties as, on most e-readers, you can enlarge the typeface to whatever size you want.
The children are now back at school and the library is a quieter place to be during the day, however we have an extra pre-school session during the week now. We are hosting Wendy from PORSE each Thursday morning term-time at 10.00 for storytelling. Janet is still running Book Babies on Tuesday mornings so preschoolers are spoilt for choice – come to one or come to both!
Our library space is becoming very popular for Wifi users now – at times there is no seating left as each available space is crammed with laptop and ipad users surfing the internet. Our Wifi is free and is available during library hours.
I have just produced some rather interesting statistics on the library service for Council and these can be seen in the Council papers held at the library. If you are interested in issue amounts and Wifi usage and such like, do pop in and have a look at how we are doing.
