Friendship Club
A thank you to the Star team for their cover of the Friendship Club’s celebrating the Queen’s 60th Jubilee of coronation.

Daisy’s name was missing in the report of the mock investiture and it’s important that this special lady is included. Daisy was honoured as the ‘Royal Soup and Cake Maker, Place Setter and Tea Maker’. (Daisy is her happiest when she is helping someone).

It’s been brought to my notice that the men were mentioned as the only ones who come to the meetings. However Andy and Jack are the only men who have volunteered to take time out of their busy day to come into town to set up the tables and come back later to put them away. Anne Egerton organises this job and would appreciate another helper. (Andy and Jack don’t come to the meetings).
We do have men who have been regular supporters and we are always glad to welcome them. I apologise if there has been some misunderstanding.

The time people come on the day is any time after 11.30 am and lunch is served at midday then mainly leave approx 2pm

A missed submission?
I, along with many others made a submission for the LTP. There is however one major item which has been missed by all parties. That is to confirm the road around the Square as a future venue for Formula One racing.

As it stands now the Square is not up to standard for the “racing cars” that currently use it as a testing ground to try to run down pedestrians on the 4 crossings.

Just think of the possibilities if Martinborough could be incorporated in to the world Formula One Circuit. The event could be held the week after the Australian Grand Prix in February, thus saving millions in transport costs for all concerned.

Add on Kitchener & Oxford Streets, plus Puratanga Road to the mix and an exciting circuit through the town centre & around the Vineyards could be created. Perhaps the hoons who use the square now as a racing circuit could be encouraged to extend their racing to the outlining roads as a trial.

Bernie Eclestone, Formula One supremo would be over the moon at having a circuit amongst Vineyards. I am sure the current Govt. would stump up a few Million (as they have for Pukekhoe) to bring this prestige event to Martinborough.
