The Grumpy’s were a happy bunch enjoying a great night of food and fun. Who are those three shy one’s a the front?


The golfers have had some good weather at long last and have been turning up in quite remarkable numbers.

The Grumpy’s (pictured) have had their night out and all who went had a real good time. The food was great and the music provided by ‘DJ’ Graham Jacobson was brilliant. They didn’t drink all of the jug count so that will keep till the next social they have.

Martinborough Squash Club continues to go from strength to strength, with large numbers of adult players, a fully subscribed business house competition, a vibrant and growing junior squash programme and three teams in the Wellington Interclub competitions. But the story this doesn’t tell is about the strength of Women’s Squash at the club.

Tuhirangi 35 – Martinborough 19, the boys from Pirinoa have done it again, repeating the earlier season’s win over their old rivals. The game was played pleasant weather conditions in front of a big crowd of vocal supporters with 3 very quick tries scored, all converted by Brad Legge. It was an exciting game with 5 more tries being scored.

The Martinborough Small Bore Club continues it’s run of success following on from supplying 5 members, Harrie Materman, Carol Yardley, Paul Crimp, Greg Reid and Steve White, of the Wairarapa winning Jim Hart Trophy team.
This trophy is competed among North Island teams with ten shooters from each region compete over one day with scores making up the team score. Small-bore shooting is generally a very individual sport and the fact that your score goes to make the team score adds that extra bit of pressure.
