Ambulance Update

The Wairarapa District Health Board is the only Board left in NZ still running their own ambulance service. However, it is hoped that by February next year, the service will be tendered out to an independent organization, the most likely candidates being either St John’s Ambulance or the Wellington Free Ambulance services.

Centennial Memorial Baths

1940 marked the centennial of New Zealand’s being declared a Dominion and the citizens of Martinborough decided take celebratory date as an opportunity to mark the pioneer settlers by way of a memorial. A much needed town swimming baths was chosen.

Martinborough Squash Club celebrated its most recent champions last month with the Ladies Division 3 Interclub Team taking out their competition.
The team beat Red Star of Masterton 4-0 in the final winning 12 games to 1 over the 4 matches. “It was a fantastic result for our small rural club,” said Club Secretary and team member, Trinity Shaw. “This is the first time a few of us have ever played Interclub so we were surprised to be doing so well throughout the season, but to win was just amazing.” … Continue Reading
