Get Ready for Love

May 10, 2013 May 2013 Comments Off on Get Ready for Love

Perhaps finding love needs to be tackled in the same way as finding a job? After all, both require a lot of  time, energy, and a shift in focus, to get desirable results. Out job-hunting, you might have to make twenty contacts for just one of those to turn into something with future potential. Dating is kind of like that, so be courageous and go forward with a mix of persistance and patience. Stepping into love needs to take serious priority over most other things, for a concentrated amount of time. Make yourself available, really available. Spruce yourself up. Feel attractive, and be interested and interesting. Let your circle of friends and acquaintances know that you are ready to meet someone, and give them some specifics about the kinds of people you find attractive. … Continue Reading

From the Mayor

May 10, 2013 May 2013, Regular Features Comments Off on From the Mayor

A curved ball has been thrown into the Super-city debate.  Hawkes Bay Regional Council have declared that they would like Wairarapa region in their Monster-two cities-half of the North Island Council.  ‘Their vision it seems is for one council from Wairoa to Palliser Bay’

They have voted to lodge this proposal with the Local Government Commission and when they do this will trigger the process for us.  Its a case of coming ready or not!
It certainly raises some interesting questions.  Wellington claim that they should own us based on people type issues such as public transport and the claim that we can’t look after ourselves without help.  Hawkes Bay however are hanging their hat on geographical, climate and economic type similarities.  Its not a bad argument but with such an enormous area, what happens to the ‘local’ in local government?  Somehow I don’t see the mayor of such an area attending many of our local church fairs. … Continue Reading

Friendship Club

May 10, 2013 May 2013 Comments Off on Friendship Club

The March meeting of the Friendship club had some interesting songs etc. for their theme ‘Sing, Say of Pay’. The ‘Pay’ wasn’t an issue as the club isn’t here to make money, only friends.

We had ‘Mary had a little lamb’, fun readings and a song about ‘Poor little Albert that was eaten by a lion’ and how bad it had been especially for the family which had to pay to get in. It was all great fun and better still for those who chose to take part as joining in the theme was voluntary. … Continue Reading
