Rifle club success

Mike Kershaw with the Hutt Valley Championship Cup.

The Martinborough Small Bore Club continues it’s run of success following on from supplying 5 members, Harrie Materman, Carol Yardley, Paul Crimp, Greg Reid and Steve White, of the Wairarapa winning Jim Hart Trophy team.
This trophy is competed among North Island teams with ten shooters from each region compete over one day with scores making up the team score. Small-bore shooting is generally a very individual sport and the fact that your score goes to make the team score adds that extra bit of pressure.

A further success was for Mike Kershaw who has picked up the C Grade Championship at the Hutt Valley Open held on 9th June with a score of 288.08.

The Club hosted the Wairarapa Open on the 23 June, with 70 shooters competing at the range in Cork Street. Local shooters enjoyed the chance to shoot shoulder to shoulder with some of the best shooters in the country. Chris Johnstone 294.13 and Paul Crimp 294.12 being the best of the locals.

Martin Hunt from the Rongotea Club taking out the Master Grade with a score of 299.19.

Club nights are Thursdays at 7pm – come along and have a go. If you would like other information of small bore rifle shooting contact Steve White: phone 306 8007 or E-mail: shootingbutts@xtra.co.nz
