Diagnostic Ultrasound Scanner for Martinborough Health Centre

October 10, 2011 October 2011 No Comments

The Ruamahunga Health Trust and the Martinborough Lions are raising money to purchase a colour ultrasound scanner for the Health Centre.

This portable diagnostic ultrasound system will enable Doctor Steve Philip and staff to look beneath the skin and examine blood vessels, lumps, unborn babies, and locate foreign bodies to assist with easy removal eg: piece of glass in foot.
At present patients who need an ultrasound scan have to travel to Masterton Hospital or over the hill, either to the Hutt or to Wellington and then wait for the results to be sent back to the practice. With this ultrasound scanner, Doctor Steve Philip can immediately send images to a specialist for further discussion or as a referral.
The cost of the colour ultrasound scanner is $31,895.00 excluding GST. The Lions have already pledged $10,000 towards this cost and the Ruamahunga Health Trust has undertaken to obtain the balance so that we can purchase the equipment before the end of the year.
If anyone would like to donate money towards this valuable piece of equipment for the Health Centre, please contact Ro Griffiths on 06 306 8421 or send your donation to the Ruamahunga Health Trust, PO Box 216, Martinborough, 5741.
