Hau Ariki Marae invite young people to be part of the history by building the Martinborough Marae while also gaining valuable skills during one of the following 20 week courses.
Carpentry – practical on site building experience with tuition by qualified builders.
Taha Maori – learn traditional wood carving under the tutorship of Master Carver Taka Panere. Or
Traditional Tukutuku Panels under the tutorship of Mrs H Ruru.
Sawmilling – Learn Alaskan sawmilling and chainsaw skills while assisting with the milling of timber for the Marae complex.
During the course trainees will learn to appreciate the Maori ancestry, history and knowledge revealed through their works.
