NEWS FROM WHAREKAKA
Another month has flown by at Wharekaka. The flowers are starting to bloom and the oak trees are now covering in bright green leaves – Summer is on the way!!
We have had a busy action packed month. Martinborough School Kapa Haka Group entertained the residents with lovely singing. We visited the Martinborough School Pet day, along with our regular Tai Chi, Happy Hour, Rummy and Bingo to keep everyone busy and active. Residents enjoyed the exciting Rugby World Cup games – staying up very late to watch the final!!
Our villa project on the corner of Sackville Oxford Street is nearing completion. The last villa is now for sale for $274,000. Should you wish to have a look at this lovely modern villa please contact the Business Manager at Wharekaka.
November is going to be another busy month on the Wharekaka calendar. We are having a fundraising evening on Saturday 19th November from 7pm at the Town Hall. This is to raise funds for the purchase of a vehicle to transport residents on outings and appointments.
The residents have been busy painting artwork that will be auctioned during the evening. We have also been very fortunate to have donations from local businesses and NZ artists to auction, there will also be mystery auctions, raffles and a jewellery display.
Tickets are $10.00 per person (available from Wharekaka Rest Home – limited door sales) which includes a complimentary glass of wine and supper. A bar will be available with eftpos facilities.
We need some volunteers to assist with this so if you can help please contact Wendy at Wharekaka on 3069701.
