S.O.S?
A concerned resident enquired if the Star was aware of the reason for the District Council’s flying the International Distress Signal. His concern was that the Council was in some kind of Greek financial situation and, quite reasonably, worried about possible calls for a ratepayer bail out.
One suggestion made was that it could be the CEO in mourning following the Irish team’s performance at the RWC. However it was pointed out that in that case it would have been the Irish flag flying at half mast.
A more likely scenario is that they had run out of coffee.
