Party Marty – you’re invited!
The year 1904 saw the birth of our Martinborough Rugby Club, which was accepted, as a Junior Club by the Wairarapa Rugby Union. Today we are still going strong with over 100 junior players and two strong senior sides. As any club we are always on the lookout for ideas to not only maintain our club but to keep our community bond strong. This year being no exception, we have such a loyal following and with our volunteers keeping the club going, a home game is always special and something we look forward to doing (especially Jo’s yummy fry bread.) The feel of our club has always been unique no matter if we are on a bus trip to another club the presence of Martinborough is always a strong one.
As club organisers go we all know how hard it is to keep people interested and the cost down and keeping up with regulations etc. This year we were approached by Brian Marshall a father of one of our senior players who had an idea for a family concert. From there we pulled our committee helpers together and Party Marty was born.
Party Marty is an affordable family concert that will be held on the number one field at Martinborough rugby grounds on the 17th of November 2012. A fantastic Eagles tribute band will be playing from 4pm. The idea is for people to bring a blanket sit, listen and dance to the music.
There will be lots of delicious food stalls available and some kid’s entertainment also. We will be selling alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as its NO BYO. It’s a total glass ban as we are on the playing fields. The concert gates will open from 3:00pm and finish around 7pm. Tickets are available from www.iticket.co.nz Party Marty. $20+ booking fee, children 12 years of age and under are free entry with a supervised adult making the concert very affordable, but be in quick we do have limited numbers. Parking is available on site at a cost of $2 per vehicle which all proceeds are going towards our JAB players.
This concert is very much a community based project as Dustys&Lulu being our advertising designers and stall holders being made up of local sports groups and businesses. We wanted to give clubs and other projects the opportunity to make some money for their causes also. All fundraised money is going towards the upgrade of our clubrooms and grounds to ensure we secure Martinborough Rugby into the next hundred years. So go online book your tickets and pencil in the 17th November for a great night out.
