Community Board notes
Gosh, what a busy month August has been, Madcaps maybe one of the best yet, we are constantly amazed at the talent in our small town!!
At our Community board meeting on Monday, Craig Hamilton came to talk to us about the 26th Sept Shakedown which all the registered companies and private people will be taking part in and how our town will be likely to join in. Have you joined up yet?
It is hoped that people all over NZ will take part as recognition of the Christchurch earthquake, and helping us to be more aware and ready! Go online and look up www.getthru.govt.nz and sign up!
On Saturday Pam Colenso, Brian Jeppy, Max Stevens and Mark Allingham attended the Lake Ferry Ratepayers Association, meeting there was a huge turnout of very interested people. They are looking at their salt marsh which is quite special to that area, and planting of trees. Also a letter of thanks from Ngawi for plantings of Norfolk Pines that will greet and welcome visitors in years to come.
We also, at the meeting, took a good look at the survey done on the footpaths in Martinborough, a lot need work, but the council are getting on to it smartly! And the swimming pool, hopefully a cover will be made soon and a slide ordered ready for labour weekend opening.
The playground equipment is rearing to get put in, the Lions will be starting 8.30ish on Sat if you want to watch. But come with scones, and there are rumours that we are looking for someone to pay for the 1st to be allowed on the flying fox – donation to the town hall restoration fund!
Well with the Jazz festival happening, the Centennial cocktail party on Sun 16th Sept 5pm, tickets $15. There will be nibbles a drink, and a piece of Providore/Mrs Joyce Hogg’s divine choccy cake to mark the occasion with The Mayor and John Hayes unveiling the granite plaque.
Then a Cabaret/Ball on Sept 22nd organised by Leah Hawkins/Rebecca Mills etc.
Should be a busy fun Sept had by all don’t you think??
