Hello from Martinborough Plunket
Winter is really here, we hope you have been keeping warm during the cold snaps.. we’ve been busy coming up with some fun alternative fund raising ideas… in May, with the help from our local Mitre10 who were kindly selling tickets, we were selling double tickets to the Hurricanes V Rebels rugby game at Westpac Stadium- also included was a night at the Museum Hotel for two.
Congratulations to winner Bill Hutching. Special thanks to BNZ for the rugby tickets and the Museum Hotel for kindly donating the accommodation. We know several keen ticket buyers who had babysitters on standby in case they won.
Look out for our next big raffle; double tickets to the World of Wearable Arts Show in Wellington (WOW) with dinner voucher to be used at Logan Brown… tickets will be on sale at Mitre10, or check out Wairarapa Plunket Facebook page on where to snap up tickets.
Last month we held our yearly garage sale with our bright fliers appearing in your letter boxes. The sale on Saturday 30th June was a smaller scale from 10am until midday, held in the Supper Room at the rear of the Town Hall. We still have a very good quality double and single bed for sale (let one of our committee members know if you are interested).
We raised over $1500, pretty good for 2 hours work on the day..! We are very grateful to the many people offering their time to help with the setting up, and clean up afterwards. We can’t fund raise without the support of the generosity of YOU the local people who kindly donated your trash, treasures and time, a BIG thank you to everyone involved.
The money goes straight back to Martinborough Plunket. As you can see in the photo we had a lot of stuff to sort through for the big day.
Remember if you are at a loose end on a Monday morning come along to our regular coffee play group at the Plunket rooms (next to Play Centre on Venice Street) – starts at 10.30am. We’ll also post a ‘reminder’ on our Wairarapa Plunket Facebook page so be sure to add us as a ‘friend’.
Our Martinborough Plunket Committee is a (cheerful) small group that meets up once a month (over great cake and hot chocolate!..) to discuss those all important ‘Plunket involved things’ that our local community benefit from. Without the committee donating their time freely, we wouldn’t have those interesting free talks, coffee groups and fund-raising events. We’d love to welcome more people on to our committee, if you have an hour or two to spare come and join us. Phone 3066176 for any queries, we’d love to hear from you. Linda Blake
