Reading volunteers wanted

Nov 2026

Rotary Wellington has a satellite Club in the Wairarapa focused on literacy projects; Rotary Literacy for Life. One of the Club’s most recent projects is coordinating teams of volunteers to read with students at local primary schools.

The Club has run a successful pilot project at Featherston School and is now looking for more volunteers so the service can be offered at other schools in the Wairarapa from Term 1, 2027.

The reading programme provides the opportunity to support literacy in schools while building wonderful relationships with the students in the classroom. It also provides the chance to network with other volunteers who have a shared passion for literacy and for supporting our community.

If you have an hour or two a week spare during the school term, we welcome you to join us. (NB: All volunteers will be subject to police vetting, which can take up to six weeks).

Please email jocrimp@gmail.com to express interest or for further information.
