Our oldest Tamariki have the privilege each week to head out of the kindergarten to Considine Park.
Once there, active exploration kicks in and the Tamariki are free to explore in the park. Often play is centred around the bush and their imaginations take them on exciting adventures including camping expeditions, safaris and bush walks. Teamwork develops through negotiating roles and responsibilities and can see them building huge ‘campfires’ using large fallen logs, upholding values such as Kaitiakitanga when they notice and pick up rubbish in the park and Manaakitanga and Tuakana-teina when they support each other to learn new skills like navigating the stepping logs. Each week is different and guided by the weather, seasons and their imaginations. We are excited about the proposed continual upgrades to the park as this is a valuable asset to our community and the learning opportunities it provides our Tamariki.
