Ingrid Horrocks, raised in Wairarapa from the age of 11, was awarded the top fiction prize at the 2026 Ockham New Zealand Book Awards for her book, All Her Lives.
The prize, awarded through the generosity of the late Jann Medlicott, a radiologist, is $65,000.
All Her Lives follows women across generations – from the 1700s to the present-day – girls raised in the garden of Plunket founder Truby King, a queer university student in Berlin, climate rebellion…. At the heart of the nine stories is writer-philosopher Mary Wollstonecraft and her journey of love, grief and revolution.
All Her Lives is Ingrid Horrock’s first book of fiction. Her previous books are memoir, travel writing, essays, poetry, literary history, and nature writing.
Wairarapa Word welcomes you to meet the author on Sunday July 5th at 3pm, at the Community Courthouse, 60 Holloway Street, Carterton. Nai mai haere mai. No reservations are necessary. Koha is appreciated.
