Local Government reform – South Wairarapa community meetings

Jun 2026

South Wairarapa residents are invited to attend one of three community meetings about what the proposed changes to local government could mean for the district.

The meetings follow Central Government reform where Councils have been given three months to develop proposals under the Head Start pathway. This could significantly change how councils and services are structured in the future.

Mayor Fran Wilde and councillors will provide an overview of what’s being proposed and hear feedback from the community.

The meetings are scheduled for Martinborough on 4 June, Greytown on 9 June and Featherston on 11 June. All meeting begin at 7pm.
