Autumn on the Greens a winner for the golf club and the town

Jun 2026

Amazing, incredible, fabulous just a few adjectives used to describe the Autumn on the Greens ladies tournament held from 21st to 23rd May.

134 players from all around New Zealand and even 7 from Australia experienced Martinborough at its best. Who would have thought we could get three days in a row without wind!! Hats off to the organising committee who worked tirelessly over the last few months to bring together sponsors and supporters for the event. A huge thank you to major sponsor Triumph & Disaster founded by former NZ cricketer Dion Nash. All the sponsors were incredible and this allowed $9000 worth of cash prizes for the various competitions as well as fabulous raffles and spot prizes.

Eateries and shops in town were really busy and feedback was that it provided much needed patronage in what is traditionally a quiet month.

Huge thanks to all the members who volunteered their time to make the event such a success, the men in their aprons handing out canapes, the nine hole ladies serving food on the final night and too many more to mention. All the players got into the theme
of autumn with some fabulous outfits for the final night dinner.

Of course it was all about the golf, and the overall results saw Michelle Quinn from Paraparaumu Beach win the Stableford with 40 points, the best nett winner was Robyn Sinclair from Feilding on a nett 68 and the best gross was Tracy Bary from Rarangi with gross 80.

There were division prizes for each, too many to mention here, but well done to everyone.

A very special mention to Michael Bing and his green keeping staff who have presented a course that continues to be praised by all who play.

A final note on the opening hours of the club during winter. From the beginning of June the bar will open Monday – Wednesday 11.00am to 5.00pm and Thursday – Sunday 11.00am – 6.00pm. The kitchen will be closed on Monday and Tuesday (cabinet food available), Wednesday open 11.00am to 5.00pm and Thursday to Sunday 11.00am to 6.00pm.

We’re excited that the successful Saturday rugby nights and Sunday roasts will be restarting and subject to interest Football World Club lunch and game afternoons will be held.
