Palmer and Cook Developments has confirmed the purchase of Brackenridge, the well-known wedding, accommodation, and wellness property in Martinborough, South Wairarapa.
The new owners are local property owners and frequent visitors to Martinborough, with a long-standing appreciation for the region and its community. While settlement is not scheduled until late August this year, Palmer and Cook Developments wanted to proactively confirm the change in ownership and outline their current intentions for the site.
Brackenridge will continue to operate at full capacity under its existing arrangements until the ownership changes hands, with no immediate changes to current bookings or operations.
The purchase included an approved resource consent that allows the property to be subdivided in its current form. As part of this consent, there are ten existing homes on the site that will be individually titled and offered to the market in due course.
The future of the function centre is still under consideration, and no final decision has been made regarding its long-term use.
Palmer and Cook Developments has indicated a strong desire to retain the day spa, indoor pool, and gym facilities as part of the property’s ongoing offering. In parallel, the company intends to invite expressions of interest from parties who may wish to purchase and operate these wellness facilities moving forward.
“We’re very mindful of Brackenridge’s place within Martinborough and the wider South Wairarapa community,” a spokesperson for Palmer and Cook Developments said. “At this stage, we’re listening, learning, and taking the time to understand what will best suit the site, the community, and the market. No major changes are imminent, and we want to approach any future plans thoughtfully.”
