Pool season means summer is here. To see kids flock to this corner of Martinborough to enjoy the pool and pump track makes me smile. As a parent it’s gold to have kids happy to be outdoors!
This year we have some colourful additions and the pump track and pool entrance feel a whole lot brighter. Artists Component aka Sparrow Phillips and his wing girl Lucy Davidson really enjoyed their time in Martinborough last month. Locals stopped to chat and a class from Martinborough School popped along to ask questions. Still a few finishing touches to go at the pumptrack, a water fountain thanks to Mitre 10 and some shade sails but the kids are enjoying the riding and that’s the main thing. Earlier in the year Alana Mays transformed the pool entrance. It had been to complement the tropical panel installed during the last season. I think we can safely say both walls are better for the skill of these talented artists but its thanks to you our community, that it was made possible.
If your kids are splashing around in the pool this summer you may also notice some fun additions there too. Thanks to funding from the previous community board we have a selection of new pool mats.
However, the fun and colour doesn’t stop there. In November I made the call to not go ahead with the community Fireworks event. A mix of reasons were part of the decision which I shared on social media. I did however say I would look to run a family friendly event during the summer. So, I am thrilled to confirm a “Colour Run” event will take place early 2026.
Maybe we can raise some money to add even more colour to our community. I have plenty of walls in mind! If you are keen to jump onboard as a colour run sponsor do get in touch with me to chat via email charlotte.harding9717@gmail.com
