It’s hard to believe a whole year has passed since our pātaka kai was built! In that time, it has been well used, and it’s been wonderful to see our community making the most of it.
Recently, our tamariki, with support from Martin the Toymaker, have been busy creating special wooden boxes that now sit proudly inside the pātaka kai. These boxes make it easy to display fruit and vegetables, so the produce is visible and accessible. Paper bags are also available for carrying your kai.
Our tamariki help tend to the kindergarten’s vege garden by watering, harvesting, and placing the produce in the pātaka kai. It’s fantastic to see them involved in the whole process. This provides a rich learning opportunity as they practise being kaitiaki by caring for the plants and show manaakitanga by sharing with our community.
A big thank you to everyone who continues to supply produce – we really appreciate your generosity.
We also encourage you to take what you need and make use of what’s available.
Ngā mihi
