Every year, the Kitcheners Halloween Party reminds Martinborough why community traditions matter. With sunshine, hundreds of kids, creative costumes, and families spilling across the Oxford Street front yard, the day had an energy that was nothing short of electric.
“This year, the costumes were next-level and Parents didn’t miss a beat either, the adults brought as much enthusiasm as the little ones. It’s become tradition now, the friendly rivalry, the effort, the creativity. And it shows”, said Nadia.
But the magic isn’t just in the costumes. It’s in the feeling that takes over the moment you walk through the gate. One Dad summed it up perfectly: “I arrived in a funk and left feeling great, the vibe is intoxicating.”
Another local, Pip Maynard shared what so many were saying throughout the afternoon: “It’s so awesome… such a special community event for the whole family. A great chance to meet new whānau who’ve moved into town.”
“Big shout out to Zappo the magician, he puts on the best show for the kids and donates his time every year! Big thanks also to all our customers who donated treats and sweets for the kids, it’s so wonderful. Said Christy-Anne.
That’s exactly what makes this event so loved. In just a couple of hours, the Oxford Street property transforms into a place where newcomers feel instantly welcomed, long-time locals reconnect, and children make memories that will last long after the lollies are gone.
As the costumes were packed away and the last handfuls of lollies disappeared, one thing was clear: Martinborough wouldn’t be the same without this iconic celebration. Thanks to the Kitcheners and the Sullivan generosity, the tradition continues to grow, strengthening the community we’re so proud to be part of.
