Martinborough Pours On the Charm with New ‘Pour and Explore’ Event

Oct 2025

Martinborough’s town centre was buzzing with energy over August as the Martinborough Business Association (MBA) launched its inaugural “Pour and Explore” event – a celebration of local flavour and hospitality.

Designed to stimulate business from both tourists and locals during a traditionally quieter season, the event proved to be a success.

From retailers to cellar doors and cafés to accommodation providers, businesses reported a noticeable uptake in foot traffic and sales. In fact, early figures show that the majority of retail, accommodation, and hospitality participants saw between 5-20% growth in revenue compared to the same period last year – a welcome boost for the town’s economy.

The concept behind Pour and Explore was simple: to encourage people to wander, taste, shop, and stay. With curated experiences driven from the business community, there were a number of collaborations that showcased the best of Martinborough’s charm.

Conor Kershaw of P&K, the event’s major sponsor, shared his enthusiasm for the initiative:

“We were happy to be a major sponsor for year one to help get Pour and Explore off the ground. It was cool to see a bunch of businesses benefit from a bit of extra trading in a tough market and time of year.”

MBA Co-Chairperson Janice Macgee said the association is already looking ahead to next year’s event, with plans to expand the offerings and bring even more businesses into the fold. “This was just the beginning. We’ve seen what’s possible when the community comes together, and we’re excited to build on that momentum.”

MBA wants to thank Pour & Explore event planner Becs Clarke from Glue HQ for pulling it all together. Pour and Explore is a shining example of what makes Martinborough special – a tight-knit community, passionate local businesses, and a shared love for good food, good wine, and good company.
