Voting bins have been rolled out across South Wairarapa and are ready for you to cast your vote.
Voting papers have arrived in mailboxes and across the district. Six bright orange voting bins have been placed at convenient locations in libraries and supermarkets in Featherston, Greytown, and Martinborough.
South Wairarapa District Council Deputy Electoral Officer Nicki Ansell says the aim is to make voting as easy as possible.
“We want to encourage strong voter turnout. We hope this makes it easier for people to cast their vote.”
People can vote in two different ways:
- By post – make sure it’s in the mail by Tuesday 7 October 2025
- By voting bin – drop it in by 12noon Election Day, Saturday 11 October 2025
If your voting papers don’t arrive, or if you’re not yet enrolled, you can still vote in this year’s local body election by casting a special vote, Nicki says.
“Friendly Council staff will be available at the Martinborough Library during weekday opening hours to help anyone who needs to cast a special vote.”
People can also call the South Wairarapa District Council on 06 306 9611 or email elections@swdc.govt.nz for help with special votes or other election queries.
