There have been 92 sales in Martinborough in the last 12 months …. a great contrast to the 66 sales in the previous 12 months …. Phew!
There have been 9 Sales over $1,900,000 in Martinborough in the last 12 months versus one sale over $1,900,000 in the twelve months previously.
Who is buying? We are still selling our biggest volume to Wellingtonians. 50% of my last 40 sales have come from Wellington, 27% from locals and the 15% from the rest of NZ and 8% overseas.
There is a real mix of new young families moving into the area, many with no connection to the Wairarapa. Also some empty nesters are looking at spending less time in Wellington and more time here, while still retaining a home in Wellington. Weekend buyers are definably back in the market.
If you were looking to compare to Greytown there have been 101 sales in Greytown in the last twelve months and only one of those sales was over 2,000,000.
Overall I feel very positive about the Martinborough market. It’s certainly had an adjustment but there is some great activity again.”
