Storm Robertson

What is the main reason you are standing for Council?

Having served as Chair of the Martinborough Community Board for the past three years, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of the community’s needs and how best to address them.

What previous experience have you had in managing within a business, government agency and/or in any governance role.?

I bring extensive business experience, most recently serving as Business Director, Australasia for Gemalto in Public Security, focusing on Digital Solutions and Biometrics. I led the development and launch of Queensland’s Digital Driver’s Licence for the Department of Transport and Main Roads. This complex role required close collaboration with government agencies, pricing negotiators, technical teams, end users from diverse backgrounds, application developers, manufacturing partners, supply chain managers, and cost analysts.

What are the three most critical issues that you feel need to be addressed in the South Wairarapa?

My key priorities are:

Water services – especially wastewater management;

Transport and related services that ensure reliable access across South Wairarapa and the wider region; and

Supporting local businesses while fostering new business opportunities.What do you believe could be done to boost business and increase employment in the South Wairarapa?

What do you believe could be done to boost business and increase employment in the South Wairarapa?

I believe the biggest barriers to progress in
South Wairarapa are a lack of genuine understanding of the collaborative efforts needed for real advancement, and insufficient support for those driving this progress.

Most importantly, it is vital to identify the fundamental drivers of our local economy. In my view, tourism underpins our business landscape, and we must cultivate strategies that recognise what attracts visitors and enhance all associated activities and services.
