Support and connections for Seniors at Heartlands

By Hana and Pip Aug 2025

Winter is truly upon us, and here at Heartlands we love to see people use our space to warm up, learn something new and make social connections.

We have a wide range of services and interest groups available free of charge to everyone in our community, however there is a particular prevalence of services aimed at older people.

University of the Third Age is a social organisation where like-minded individuals come together to learn and share wisdom. They meet at Heartlands on the first Tuesday of the month.

Digital Seniors are here every Thursday and are becoming increasingly popular! If you need help with your tech, call in and see the wonderful team.

Age Concern hold a monthly morning tea on the first Wednesday of the month, and every other Wednesday Jacqs is here to answer any questions or provide support.

Kuia and Kaumātua group from Te Hau Ora meet here fortnightly during winter, for anyone over 60 to come along to a social session, learning waiata, karakia, culture, te reo Māori, and history through a Te Ao Māori lens.

Your Way Hearing Clinic provide free hearing tests and advice on how to get funding for hearing aids if needed.

New Knit and Natter social crafting circle on the last Friday of the month (not exclusively for seniors!)

We are available Monday – Friday to help with filling out forms, understanding services and connecting you with other support. Call in and see if we can help.

We are looking forward to seeing you soon, stay warm!
