Dear Editor, As reported in the Wairarapa Times Age (12th of July 2025) several councillors accused the mayor of breaching the council’s code of conduct in relation to his donation to Booktown, then ignored the advice of the lawyer the mayor engaged and the consultant the CEO consulted.
The lawyer said “He has not even come close to breaching it” and the independent consultant said “it is without foundation. I consider the complaint to be frivolous”. Also the consultant interviewed two of the councillors who, apart from their (frivolous) assertions provided no other information.
This amounts to a witch hunt by councillors Colin Olds, Rebecca Gray, Martin Bosley, Alistair Plimmer, Kaye McAulay and Aidan Ellims (that was a surprise). So I will not be voting for any of these people standing for the Featherston ward in the forthcoming election who ignored the advice of the lawyer, the independent consultant and the CEO, and cost the ratepayers undisclosed costs which might just increase our rates for their petty action.
