Dog parks, cemeteries, libraries, rubbish dumps, public walks – all have something in common: bold new signage with updated information for those who need it.
South Wairarapa District Council is “boosting the visibility of its amenities and beautiful public spaces with informative new signs across the district,” a senior official said in a statement.
The district-wide initiative is to highlight the amenities and facilties that council looks after for the community.
The signage replaces old, out-dated “signs that have stood for decades (and have) old (opening) hours or phone numbers while others lacked helpful information which the community needs to know, such as hours for the transfer station, etiquette at dog parks and where to find a walk,” Stefan Corbett, Group Manager of Infrastructure and Community Operations, said.
He rushed to advise ratepayers that “a modest budget has been used cautiously as we determine which places need more clarity around names and services, using new signs.”
Parks, cemeteries and libraries are among the many amenities to have upgraded signs and, in some instances, signs for the first time.
This includes all three dog parks in the district which will soon have new signs _ and support posts.
“We’re delighted to be installing new signs around South Wairarapa for the benefit of our community and visitors alike,” Corbett added.
