Ready to dance and sing yer socks off? Then, Stardust South Wairarapa is a mixed ability, free-spirited, weekly class for all budding singers and dancers.
Tutor Justine Rose Kingdon of Tangle Community Dance and Arts has taught and choreographed mixed ability dance for almost 15 years. She also taught for six years at Starjam in Masterton till its funding ended nationwide last year.
Stardust South Wairarapa started earlier this term after a benefit concert at Anzac Hall.
Justine notes that some of the “cells” from the larger group wanted to continue.
So Stardust South Wairarapa now meets Tuesdays in Featherston and is open to students of mixed ability – aged from seven right through to 70s, and beyond.
Classes are broken into two halves: the first half is “copy dance” which, over time, will include a class choreography of movements which have been filmed during improvisation.
The second half is Spot The Talent, where every student has the chance to perform their own spontaneous piece – singing, dancing, quoting or whatever they are inspired to share.
“Our next opportunity is Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever, the Kate Bush flash mob dance, which will be at Featherston Squircle on Saturday, 26 July.”
Weekly Tuesday classes: 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at Fareham Hall, 80 Underhill Road, Featherston.
