Wairarapa Quilters are holding a “Joy of Matariki” major quilt exhibition from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 July at ANZAC Hall, Bell Street, Featherston.
It has been nearly three years since the group’s last exhibition, so are expecting to have about 100 quilts on display from extremely talented members. Some quilts will be available for purchase.
Alongside the main exhibition there will be entries in two club challenges and an exciting exhibition of small quilts by year 7-13 students in the region. Intermediate and Secondary students throughout Wairarapa were invited to make a small 24-inch square quilt with a Matariki theme. Organisers say it will be wonderful to see what the next generation of fabric artists displays.
A merchant mall with a range of products will feature carefully chosen vendors: Bernina NZ, Evans of Masterton, The Crafty Pear, The Stitch Inn, Aimee’s Homestead and The Gourmet Quilter, as well as a sales table of items made by club members.
Local Owls ladies will provide catering on site each day for an energy boost.
Wairarapa Quilters meet on the first Thursday of each month (February – November) at 7:00 p.m. in the Idea Room, 46 Bentley Street, Masterton.
