Indie’s young journey and a plea to help

Apr 2025

Throughout April and May, a series of fundraising initiatives will be held to support Indie Farrell, a two-year-old Martinborough local who, since birth, has been in and out of hospital for various treatments and multiple surgeries.

Continual vomiting has left her malnourished and requiring tube feeding. Unfortunately, her condition remains undiagnosed, despite endless testing and investigations.

Indie has spent time at Australia’s Centre for Movement, a paediatric rehab facility where specialists use neuroplasticity to help patients rewire, strengthen and create new neural pathways that improve coordination and facilitate movement.

The goal is to build strength and independence. After her first programme, Indie mastered rolling and learning to sit independently, providing hope and optimism to Indie’s parents, Toni and Russ.

The specialist team recommend three further courses of treatment before Indie’s next birthday this October. $40-thousand of the required $60k has already been raised thanks to the wonderful generosity of the Martinborough community.

In an attempt to raise the remaining $20k, here are ways to help Indie get the treatment she needs:

Cool Change Music Quiz – on Tuesday 20 May Cool Change will host a music quiz evening. Open to teams of four and an entry fee of $40 per team, questions will span all eras and tastes. Doors open from 6:00 p.m. More than half the 20 available team slots are already taken.

Prize Donations – for either raffle, or auction at the Music Quiz. Your generous prize donation will be publicly acknowledged during the fundraiser. Prizes big and small are welcome, every dollar counts.

Direct Donation to Indie’s Givealittle page at this website link: https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/supporting-the-gorgeous-indie-on-her-intensive
