Clothing Swap organisers report they had a great selection of clothes in February and plan to hold the events on the third Saturday of each month from now.
“I have had several bags of good clothes delivered to my home and the promise of more on the day,” chief organiser Glenys Hansen said. “So many people think it (clothing swap) is a great idea, and like me a good way of getting rid of unwise purchases and unwanted clothing.”
The group’s intention is to be a free service and any donations will go towards purchasing the tea and coffee that are offered on the day. In November the koha totalled $14.20.
“We want to be a community service but also a way of lessening our impact on our planet’s resources.”
At a recent eightieth birthday party the guest of honour, Polly Buring, was wearing a dress she had scored at the clothing swap in October.
She said it is so comfortable, looks good and is also bright and colourful. Another party-goer was wearing a top and jeans from the November event.
So take clean unwanted clothing to St Andrew’s Parish Hall, Dublin St on Saturday, March 15 from 10:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. and hopefully find a treasure for yourself among the offerings.
