Kids on bikes, scooters hit pump track slopes

Feb 2025

Pump Track riders keep churning down the new tarmac runway.

Organisers say they are thrilled that the long-awaited pump track has officially become a reality, and its proof has been in the riding!

It has quickly become a favourite hotspot for kids of all ages, buzzing with energy and excitement as they test their skills and enjoy the track’s challenges.

This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support from our community. From fundraising efforts to hands-on contributions, your passion and commitment have brought this vision to life. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who played a part in making this happen!

We wanted to acknowledge thanks to the long list of those who have supported the project: Eastern & Central Trust; Trust House; Pharzyn Trust; Sargood Bequest; WBS Communitiy Trust; SWDC Community Fund; MBA Lions Club; SW Rotary; Tu Ora Compass; Toast/ Wharekauhau Lodge / Foley Family; Kennard Foundation; Roatary anonymous donation; Mollie Mogan; Ashley & Sue Mudford; Pain Farm; Top 10 Martinborough; PCL; Cologne St Cottage; Kevin Lund; Taylor Fencing; Lamb Peters; James O Connor; Bryce Neems; Brent Gare More FM; Marty Fire Crew; Gray Bros Concrete; Giant Contracting; Givealittle Givers;

While the track is built and being well-used, this is just phase one of a two-step project. Due to timing, we made the call to postpone landscaping until autumn. Ironically, given the unpredictable summer weather, we might have managed it earlier!

However, this decision ensures we can fully focus on creating a beautiful and sustainable environment to complement the track.

We are incredibly grateful to Mitre 10, who stepped up to take charge of the landscaping element of the project, as well as Pete Griffiths from Field LA2, who has joined us to bring his expertise to the design.

For now, it’s all about the riding, and keep an eye out for updates as we approach Phase Two.

Once autumn arrives, we’ll be rolling up sleeves to complete landscaping and enhance this fantastic community space even further.

Thank you again for helping us make this project a reality – we couldn’t have done it without you!
