“70 percent of Kiwis worried about money” stated an RNZ article earlier this year. Financial stress is something most people can resonate with at some stage of life, be it personally or as the result of being a business owner.
That’s why the Heartlands team are so thrilled to have a FREE finance mentor on site every week and an IRD clinic once a month for people to be able to access help and support in a space that can create so much pressure on everyday life.
“Both services are starting to gain traction in our community as we continue to grow awareness of what it is we offer and seeing the impact that support can have been a great driver in the work we are here to do” said Heartlands Services Martinborough manager Charlotte Harding.
With a Building Financial capabilities mentor, you can quickly visit to get a fresh pair of eyes on finances. The team are connected with MSD and IRD and can also advocate and assess any areas of support people may be entitled to.
The service is for everyone and covers issues such as setting budgets, ways to reduce debt, review spending, setting goals and working to make sure your money is working for you.
So whatever age and stage of life you find yourself in, be it just entering the workforce and getting to grips with pay slips, tax and KiwiSaver, they can help. Or maybe you are nearing the end of your time in the workforce and need help getting clued-up on superannuation, Gold Cards and any additional support you are eligible for. Feel free to pop in and chat to the team who are on site every Monday 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Having arrived at the final quarter of the year and as the festive season approaches, we have decided to run an “8-week Christmas savings challenge” as we appreciate this time of year can really put pressure on finances.
The 8-week challenge will kick start on 14 October and run through to 2 December. Each week the group will receive a weekly focus update with hints, tips, and tricks to support personal goals of keeping on track financially this Christmas.
From setting a budget, researching the best deals, and sharing thrifty gifting ideas. The group will start and finish with the option to join an in-person session to get motivated at the start and celebrate at the end. Weeks 2 – 7 will be completed via email or messenger.
If you are keen to join the challenge register, please call by the office to put your name down or:
